CCTF established CCIF with the help of many philanthropic enterprises and individuals. The main Founders include Mingya Insurance Brokers' Co. Ltd., Air China Corp. Ltd., the Starr Foundation (Mr. Maurice R. Greenberg), and Dr. Lynn Lin.
The Beijing Mingya Insurance Brokers' Co. Ltd.
Founded in November 2004, Beijing Mingya Insurance Brokers' Co. Ltd. (Mingya) is the first Chinese insurance brokerage firm to focus on individual life insurance, and to combine insurance consulting and IT platform to provide world-class insurance brokerage services. Mingya has developed a cutting edge proprietary real time online life insurance consulting system that enables comparison and selection of best available products tailored to each customer's needs. This system allows Mingya to provide one-on-one services to help maximize the benefit of insurance customers.
Mingya focuses on maximizing the benefits of insurance product buyers. Its goal is to educate consumers on how to select and purchase insurance products so that they would enjoy life with a peaceful mind. Specifically, Mingya's proprietary online system has increased productivity of its brokers by 3 to 5 times. In addition, the insurance product analysis and comparison provided this system would saves 10% to 30% on premium payment for the insurance buyers.
Mingya Insurance Brokers' Co. Ltd. has a long track record of acting on its social responsibility. In November 2007, Mingya and China Children and Teenagers Fund (CCTF) joined hands to develop the CCTF Mingya Caring Guardian Foundation. The foundation created a charity platform through an innovative combination of commercial insurance and traditional charity fund. After one year's trail, Mingya Caring Guardian Foundation is formally incorporated into the CCTF China Children Insurance Foundation in April, 2009.
Air China Limited
Air China Limited is abbreviated as "Air China" and its predecessor, the old Air China, was founded in 1988. Air China is the only airline company which carries the national flag. It became a member of Star Alliance in December 2007 and it is also the airline partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It has the first rank of brand value among domestic airline companies. It is known to all that Air China takes the responsibility of providing special flights for Chinese national leaders visiting abroad, as well as foreign leaders and governmental leaders visiting China, which demonstrates the exclusive status as the national flag carrier.
By the end of 2008, Air China owns 243 Boeing and Airbus planed and operates 259 routes covering 30 countries and districts, which further expands its service to 961 destinations in 160 countries.
Air China will continuously take the management notion of "safety and passengers first with trust at the root", follow the mission of "meeting the requirements of customers and creating mutual value", pursue the enterprise sense of worth for "having a high level of service and get the universal approval of the public", and sincerely offer customers " reassurance, satisfaction, easiness and sensation". As one founder of our foundation, Air China put its social responsibility on a high priority. It believes in promoting Chinas traditional virtues to help those in need by supporting our foundations development. Air China would contribute with its best effort to provide a safeguard mechanism for childrens growth and to promote the philanthropic awareness in China.
The Starr Foundation
Mr. Maurice R. (Hank) Greenberg, through the Starr Foundation, became one of the founder of CCIF. The Starr Foundation was established in 1955 by Cornelius Vander Starr, an insurance entrepreneur who founded C.V. Starr & Co. and other companies later combined by his successor, Maurice R. Greenberg into what is now known as American International Group, Inc. Mr. Starr, a pioneer of globalization, set up his first insurance venture in Shanghai in 1919. He died in 1968 at the age of 76, leaving his estate to the Foundation.
The Foundation currently has assets of approximately $1.25 billion, making it one of the largest private foundations in the United States. It makes grants in a number of areas, including education, medicine and healthcare, human needs, public policy, culture and the environment.
Maurice R. (Hank) Greenberg
Maurice R. (Hank) Greenberg currently is Chairman and CEO of the Starr Foundation. Since 1989, Maurice R. (Hank) Greenberg had been the Chairman and CEO of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), and he retired in March 2005.
Mr. Greenberg served in the U. S. Army in Europe during World War II, participating in the Liberation of Dachau and in the Korean conflict, rising to the rank of Captain; he is a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Greenberg is also the former Chairman of the Asia Society, the first president of Philippines Commerce Commission, and the Deputy President of American CABC. Besides, he is the Honorary Vice Chairman and Director of the Council on Foreign Relations of the USCKorea Business Council, a member of the USCChina Business Council. In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange, the Presidents Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, and the Business Roundtable. Last but not least, he has been the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
As Chairman of The Starr Foundation, Mr. Greenberg oversees the disbursement of major financial support to academic, medical, cultural, and public policy institutions.
Dr. Lynn Y.S. Lin
Dr. Lynn Y.S. Lin, a world-renowned market research expert, is the developer of the BASES system and co-founder of the BASES Company. Dr. Lin received his doctoral degree in statistics from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities Campus). He has been the Vice Chairman of ACNielsen BASES, President of BASES International and Chairman/CEO of Burke International Research, Inc. of New York. As the author of more than 50 academic papers and theses published in American and other international journals, Dr. Lin has been the guest professor of many famous Universities. He is also the Chief Advisor of Beijing K&D Consulting Co., Ltd..
